Alex Rodriguez went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts for a second straight night Wednesday and is now 0-for-8 with six whiffs in this World Series.
A-Rod entered the fall classic on a tear, having posted a .472 batting average (17-for-36) through the first two rounds of the '09 playoffs. He looked incredibly locked in, but all that has changed. The boo birds will begin chirping again soon if he continues to struggle.

Alex Rodriguez finished 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored as the Yankees topped the Angels in Game 4 of the ALCS.
A-Rod joined Ryan Howard and Lou Gehrig as the only players to collect at least one RBI in eight straight playoff games with his two-run blast in the fifth inning. He's now 14-for-31 (.451) in this postseason and 6-for-16 (.375) in this best-of-seven series. The guy is locked in, to say the least.

Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse reports that a follow-up surgery on Alex Rodriguez's right hip may not be necessary.
"I need a little more tests, but so far I don't think he will need surgery," said Marc J. Philippon, who performed the initial surgery on the slugger back in March. "I just watched him in batting practice and examined him. And clinically, he certainly doesn't need any intervention at this time. It's very difficult to make a formal, definite statement right now. His power is excellent and his rotation in his hip is excellent." Philippon said Rodriguez's hip was at about 95 percent right now and should be 100 percent by spring training.

Alex Rodriguez homered twice in the same inning to drive in seven runs against the Rays on Sunday.
A-Rod hit a three-run shot off starter Wade Davis, then added a grand slam off reliever Andy Sonnanstine in the Yankees' 10-run inning. The seven RBI in an inning is an American League record, and the two homers moves A-Rod into a tie for eighth place on the career list with Mark McGwire at 583 home runs. Despite missing all of April with a hip injury, A-Rod finished with exactly 30 homers and 100 RBI to go with 78 runs scored and 14 stolen bases. He's now finished with at least 30 homers and 100 RBI 13 times, including each of the last 12 seasons.

Alex Rodriguez was 3-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, a stolen base and three runs scored in a win over the Red Sox on Friday night.
Save some for the postseason. Rodriguez finished a triple short of the cycle. He got things started with an RBI single in the first, then crushed a two-run homer in the third, finally knocking in a run with an RBI double in the sixth. Rodriguez is batting a sick .373 with five home runs and 23 RBI this month. Yeah, that .288/.407/.532 line doesn't look so bad right now.

Alex Rodriguez homered and hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly in a win over the Angels on Tuesday night, as the Yankees clinched a return to the playoffs.
The Yankees were actually guaranteed a playoff berth with the Rangers' loss to the Athletics earlier on Tuesday night. A-Rod made it a moot point with a ninth-inning sacrifice fly to put the Yankees ahead for good. Rodriguez also added his 27th home run -- a two-run shot -- in the third inning. He is batting .352 with four homers and 19 RBI this month.
