Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that Jason Giambi wants to play next season.
"But as a DH," says the 38-year-old slugger. Giambi, who has turned into a crucial bat off the Rockies' bench, thinks that his production suffered with the workload he took on in Oakland. "I wasn't expecting to play that much first base."

 Jason Giambi-1B - Rockies Sep. 20 - 7:03 pm et

Jason Giambi homered for a second straight day when he took Diamondback starter Dan Haren deep for a two-run shot on Sunday.
Giambi hit a three-run homer yesterday, his first in the National League. The Rockies won't have anywhere to play Giambi in the playoffs unless it's at DH in an American League park in the World Series, but that he's getting it going will give them a potent pinch-hitter against right-handers.
 Jason Giambi-1B - Rockies Sep. 2 - 11:44 pm et

Jason Giambi hit a go-ahead two-run single in a win over the Mets on Wednesday night.
His first hit as a member of the Rockies, Giambi's eighth-inning bases-loaded single off Brian Stokes scored Troy Tulowitzki and Brad Hawpe to break a 2-2 tie. With his ability to work a count, look for the veteran to continue to be counted on as a late-inning pinch-hitter.
 Jason Giambi-1B - Rockies Sep. 1 - 8:47 am et

Rockies recalled 1B Jason Giambi from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Giambi, singed to a minor league deal on August 24, went 8-for-18 with two home runs and four RBI during his short time on the Triple-A level. He'll be used primarily as a late-innings pinch-hitter, and there's a chance he could pick up a start or two at first base on days when veteran Todd Helton isn't feeling his best.
 Jason Giambi-1B - Rockies Aug. 24 - 3:41 pm et

Rockies signed first baseman Jason Giambi to a minor league contract.
Giambi will report to Triple-A Colorado Springs. He'll spend about a week in the minors picking up regular at-bats before joining the Rockies when rosters expand on September 1. The veteran will be used primarily as a pinch hitter.
 Jason Giambi-1B - Rockies Aug. 24 - 9:14 am et

The Rockies are expected to announce the signing of free agent Jason Giambi to a minor league contract on Monday.
Giambi will get started at Triple-A Colorado Springs. He'll spend about a week there picking up regular at-bats before joining the Rockies when rosters expand to 40 players on September 1. The veteran will be used primarily as a late-innings pinch-hitting option.
