Brewers manager Ken Macha said Tuesday that he's hoping to get at least 100 games out of catcher Gregg Zaun next season.
Zaun agreed to a one-year, $1.9 million contract with the Brewers on Friday. He only made 76 starts in 2009, but that had more to do with the catchers that shared the Rays' and Orioles' depth charts with him. The 38-year-old posted a .260/.345/.426 batting line in 262 at-bats this past year.

 Gregg Zaun-C - Brewers Dec. 4 - 2:41 pm et

Brewers signed catcher Gregg Zaun to a one-year, $1.9 million contract with an option for 2011 worth $2.25 million.
Zaun has been assured by the Brewers that he will serve as the team's primary catcher. He had a fine rate of production in 2009 -- a .260/.345/.426 batting line in 262 at-bats -- and is definitely an upgrade over Jason Kendall. Zaun had interest from at least three teams before signing with Milwaukee.

According to Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports, Gregg Zaun's deal with the Brewers is worth $2.15 million guaranteed.
It's a one-year contract with an option for a second season, though the exact financial breakdown is not yet clear. Coupled with the $500,000 buyout he was given from the Rays, it's not a bad take for a guy who turns 39 in April. He hit .260/.345/.426 in 262 at-bats this past season.

Gregg Zaun told a Toronto-based radio station Friday morning that he will sign with an undisclosed team by the end of the day.
FOXSports.com linked him to the Brewers, Mariners, Rockies and Rays on Thursday, all of which make sense as possible landing spots. Zaun, who turns 39 in April, hit .260/.345/.416 in 262 at-bats this season. He was offered salary arbitration so Tampa Bay will receive a draft pick if he departs.

 Gregg Zaun-C - Brewers Dec. 3 - 9:10 am et

The Brewers, Rockies and Rays are showing the most interest in free agent catcher Gregg Zaun, reports FOXSports.com.
The Brewers would represent his best chance at playing time, but with the Rockies and Rays, Zaun has the best chance to win. The market on Zaun, who turns 39 in April, is expected to move rather quickly given his comments earlier this week. The Rays offered Zaun (a Type B free agent) salary arbitration on Tuesday, so they would receive a supplemental draft pick should he sign elsewhere.
