According to FOXSports.com, free agent reliever Billy Wagner has already drawn interest from eight teams this offseason.
Wagner's agent, Bean Stringfellow, was kind enough to name five of the interested clubs: the Red Sox, Braves, Nationals, Astros, and Orioles. All make sense for the 38-year-old left-hander, who posted a 1.72 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 26/8 K/BB ratio in 15 2/3 innings during the 2009 season.

 Billy Wagner-R - Red Sox Nov. 11 - 9:48 am et

Billy Wagner's agent, Bean Stringfellow, said Tuesday that his client hasn't ruled out accepting an offer of arbitration from the Red Sox.
"I just visited with Billy and his family the other day," said Stringfellow, "and I can tell you this much: Billy thoroughly enjoyed his time in Boston. It was one of the best experiences he has ever had in baseball." The 38-year-old left-hander was thought to have interest in a full-time closing gig. And with teams desperate for that kind of help, it's doubtful he lands back in Boston.

Billy Wagner is in demand, according to his agent Bean Stringfellow.
Stringfellow tells FOXSports.com that six teams have already contacted him in regards to Wagner, all of them interested in bringing him aboard as a closer. "That's what he is — a closer," said Stringfellow. The 38-year-old left-hander posted a 1.72 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 26/8 K/BB ratio in 15 2/3 innings in his first season back from Tommy John surgery. Though Stringfellow didn't reveal the interested parties, Wagner could make sense for a number of teams, including the Braves, Astros, Tigers and Rays.

Billy Wagner's agent, Bean Stringfellow, told FOXSports.com Wednesday that his client "has every intention of playing next season."
Wagner made a few surprising comments a day after the Red Sox were eliminated from the playoffs, mentioning a plan to retire in the offseason. According to his agent, the hard-throwing reliever was simply venting. "He wants a ring and he did not do all that rehab just to quit now," Stringfellow said. "His family supports him fully." Wagner, a free agent, posted a 1.72 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 26/8 K/BB ratio in 15 2/3 innings this season after spending 11 months recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Billy Wagner's agent, Bean Stringfellow, doesn't believe his client was sincere when speaking about his plans to retire Monday.
"Those comments probably came right after the Red Sox lost, so I'd bet they were said in the heat of the moment, when he was very frustrated," the agent said Tuesday. "That's probably not the best time to take comments like that as gospel." Wagner, 38, posted a 1.72 ERA and 26/8 K/BB ratio in 15 2/3 innings this season and appears to have plenty left in the tank.

Billy Wagner told the New York Post Monday that he's planning to retire.
"I don't plan on talking to nobody," Wagner said, when asked where he might pitch next season. The free agent left-hander posted a 1.72 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 26/8 K/BB ratio in 15 2/3 innings this season and it was largely assumed he wanted to find a closing gig this winter. But now the 38-year-old is talking retirement. "Why wouldn't I?," he said. "I've got nothing else to [accomplish]."
