Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Brewers don't intend to bring back Jason Kendall unless he takes a pay cut.
Brewers general manager Doug Melvin told Kendall's agent Arn Tellem that he doesn't want to spend $5 million on a starting catcher, as he did last season. "We explained our situation to him, what we're trying to do," said Melvin. "He said he'll talk to Jason about it." Prospect Jonathan Lucroy could emerge as at least a part-time starter next season if the 35-year-old Kendall leaves via free agency.

 Mike Cameron-OF - Brewers Aug. 28 - 10:54 am et

According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, Mike Cameron, Craig Counsell, Braden Looper and Jason Kendall have cleared waivers.
As Morosi notes, "Kendall, Counsell and Cameron are scheduled to become free agents after this season, which enhances their trade value." All four are now eligible to be traded to any team, but keep in mind that the deadline for such a transaction is August 31.

 Trevor Hoffman-R - Brewers Aug. 26 - 11:57 am et

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports the Brewers have placed all-time saves leader Trevor Hoffman, among others, on waivers.
Outfielder Mike Cameron, infielder Craig Counsell, catcher Jason Kendall, right-hander Braden Looper and second baseman Felipe Lopez have also been made available. As Rosenthal notes, interested clubs have until Thursday at 1 p.m. EST to make a claim. Hoffman, who has 27 saves and a 1.89 ERA, is likely to draw the most interest. Every playoff-bound team is looking to add another reliable bullpen arm.

 Mike Rivera-C - Brewers Aug. 13 - 7:48 pm et

After homering twice to beat the Padres Thursday, catcher Mike Rivera will draw a second start Friday.
Rivera has been the Brewers' backup catcher all year long but only garnered 63 at-bats before Thursday. His strong showing comes at a time where the Brewers' offense is trying to click, so he'll be back in there at the expense of Jason Kendall. If he has another strong game, he could start eating into Kendall's playing time.

Typical for a day game after a night game. Mike Rivera will start in his place.

 Jason Kendall-C - Brewers Jun. 24 - 11:46 pm et

Jason Kendall was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored in a comeback win over the Twins on Wednesday night.
Kendall had an RBI single to bring the Brewers within 3-2 in the sixth inning, but launched a game-tying double in the eighth. He came in to score the go-ahead run after a pair of throwing errors. Kendall is batting .234 in 201 at-bats this season.
