Edgar Renteria underwent successful elbow surgery over the weekend.
Surgeons removed two centimeter-long chunks of calcified matter from Renteria's right elbow. "You would be amazed," Bruce Bochy said of the bone fragments. Renteria is expected to make a full recovery by the start of spring training. He hit .250/.307/.328 in 124 games this season.

Edgar Renteria is scheduled to undergo season-ending arthroscopic elbow surgery on Saturday.
Renteria has been hampered by elbow issues for much of the season and appeared in just one of the Giants' last 11 games. He will have bone chips removed as part of the procedure but should be fine for the start of spring training. The 34-year-old hit .250/.307/.328 in 124 games this season.

Edgar Renteria returned to the Giants' lineup Wednesday against the Rockies.
Renteria missed three games. He was diagnosed on Tuesday with a sprained AC joint and some biceps tendinitis. To make matters worse, he is batting just .128/.171/.231 with one RBI and two runs scored in 10 games this month. Juan Uribe shifts to third base in Wednesday's lineup with Pablo Sandoval going back to first.

Renteria was diagnosed Tuesday with a sprained AC joint and some biceps tendinitis. On top of that, he's batting just .128/.171/.231 with one RBI and two runs scored in 10 games this month. Juan Uribe is a better option at shortstop for the Wild Card-chasing Giants.

Edgar Renteria underwent an MRI Tuesday on his sore left shoulder that revealed a sprained AC joint and some biceps tendinitis.
Renteria told reporters that he will attempt to play through the injuries, but he's not in Tuesday's lineup and is batting just .128/.171/.231 this month. Juan Uribe should continue to draw regular starts at shortstop.
