| Ronnie Belliard's 2010 Profile | | Through a combination of a back injury and occupancy in Manny Acta's doghouse with the Nationals, Belliard batted just .184/.234/.282 with two home runs and eight RBI in just 103 at-bats over the first half of the season, falling behind the immortal Anderson Hernandez on the depth chart. After Acta was fired, Belliard showed some life in August, batting .361 with three homers and 13 RBI. It was enough to convince the Dodgers to acquire him before the August 31 waiver deadline. Belliard remained red-hot in September with a .347 batting average to go along with four home runs and 15 RBI. As a result, Joe Torre began to use Belliard as his primary second baseman over Orlando Hudson down the stretch and surprisingly, into the playoffs. Now 35 years old, Belliard's strikeout rate has climbed in each of the last two seasons, however he's hitting home runs more frequently than at any other point of his career. The Dodgers surprised by bringing him back on a one-year contract in January, so he'll at least get a chance to compete for the starting second base gig with Blake DeWitt and Jamey Carroll during Spring Training. He could be a decent middle infield option in fantasy leagues should he find 300 at-bats again. | | Year | Tm | AB | H | AVG | HR | RBI | RUNS | SB | OBP | SLUG | TB | OPS | | Proj | LA | 323 | 90 | .279 | 9 | 43 | 40 | 3 | .341 | .433 | 140 | .774 | | 2009 | LA | 264 | 73 | .277 | 10 | 39 | 39 | 3 | .325 | .451 | 119 | .776 | | 2008 | WAS | 296 | 85 | .287 | 11 | 46 | 37 | 3 | .372 | .473 | 140 | .845 | | 2007 | WAS | 511 | 148 | .290 | 11 | 58 | 57 | 3 | .332 | .427 | 218 | .759 |
