Orioles released LHP Jamie Walker.
Walker was superficially mediocre -- a 5.11 ERA -- but he was a lefty who gave up four home runs to lefties in 24 at-bats against them. That's no way to keep a job as lefty specialist.

Orioles manager Dave Trembley hinted Wednesday that Jamie Walker's spot on the roster is in jeopardy.
Walker has a 5.11 ERA in 12 1/3 innings. He's surrendered 19 hits and five home runs, and opposing hitters are batting .373 against him. "It's frustrating, but that's my job," said the 38-year-old left-hander. "I've got to go out there and produce, or they're going to [release] me. That's the way it is."

Jamie Walker acknowledged that he appealed the fine from Major League Baseball for his comments after Tuesday's game about plate umpire Angel Hernandez, who about whom Walker said, "I don't know if he had money betting on the game or what" after a controversial balk call.
The amount of the fine was not disclosed, although manager Dave Trembley described it as "substantial". Don't expect MLB to back down on this one after Walker called out an umpire's integrity.

Jamie Walker was fined an undisclosed amount by Major League Baseball Thursday for his profanity-laced comments about umpire Angel Hernandez.
Walker was lucky to avoid suspension. In a prepared statement, Bob Watson, MLB's vice president of on-field operations, called Walker's comments "an inappropriate, unnecessary attack on umpire Hernandez's professionalism. Such comments impugning the integrity and impartiality of Angel Hernandez or any other member of the umpiring staff will not be tolerated."

Jamie Walker is in danger of a suspension after a profanity-laced post-game rant Tuesday.
A balk call against Walker led to manager Dave Trembley's ejection and had Walker livid after the game. "No way in hell did I balk on that pitch," he said. "That was a (expletive) call. I don't know if the guy has a problem with me or what, but it was a (expletive) call ... I don't know if he had money bet on the game, but that was (expletive)."
