The Cubs will not offer arbitration to right-handers Rich Harden and Kevin Gregg.
Reed Johnson and Chad Fox are also free agents, however they did not qualify for a free agent ranking. Ultimately, neither decision comes as a surprise, although you have to wonder what Chicago would have been risking had they offered Harden (Type B) arbitration. Among their free agents, Reed has expressed a desire to remain in Chicago, so it's possible that he will return at a lesser cost.

Cubs placed RHP Chad Fox on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation.
Fox has had a multitude of injuries attack him in recent years, and it was impressive how he battled back from three Tommy John injuries. His first game since being recalled from the minors ended in yet again another injury, however. He's likely out for the year for what is being termed right-elbow inflammation.

Chad Fox was removed in the eighth inning Saturday with an arm injury.
As Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune writes, "this is likely the last time Fox will pitch for the Cubs." He hasn't looked good and may need a stint on the disabled list. The Cubs would be better off simply cutting ties.

Cubs recalled RHP Chad Fox from Triple-A Iowa.
The veteran had a 1.59 ERA in 11 1/3 innings for Iowa, but is not likely to have significant value in NL-only leagues.
