According to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy, left-hander John Halama hopes to sign a minor league contract with the Brewers next week.
The Brew Crew will have a scout in the stands Friday night when Halama takes the mound in the Dominican Republic. Assuming all goes well, Milwaukee will give the 37-year-old lefty a shot. He hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2006, but posted a 4.48 ERA in 16 appearances (13 starts) this season at Triple-A Gwinnett. The Brewers really are desperate for arms.

According to Jordan Bastain of MLB.com, the Blue Jays will watch John Halama pitch in the Dominican Republic on Thursday.
Halama hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2006 with the Orioles and has a 4.65 career ERA anyhow, so Bastain isn't sure about their level of interest in the 37-year-old southpaw. Halama was signed to a minor league contract by the Braves in June, finishing 4-7 with a 4.48 ERA in 16 appearances (13 starts) with Triple-A Gwinnett.

Braves signed LHP John Halama to a minor league contract.
Halama had been pitching for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the independent Atlantic League. His 2.05 ERA caught the eye of Atlanta scouts and they worked out a quick deal Saturday. He last pitched in the big leagues for the Orioles in 2006.
