ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick has learned that outfielder Geoff Jenkins wants to play in 2010 and has been working out for several months.
Jenkins was released by the Phillies prior to the start of the 2009 season and was unable to land a deal with any MLB club. He hit .246/.301/.392 with nine homers in 2008 and is now 35 years of age.

Phillies released outfielder Geoff Jenkins.
Signed to a two-year, $13 million contract last offseason, Jenkins lost his starting job to Jayson Werth and is now completely out of the Phillies' plans after hitting just .246/.301/.392 last season. He still has some value as a platoon player or bench bat, but at 34 years old Jenkins is likely done as a regular and the Phillies have the similarly skilled Matt Stairs around to take his at-bats.
