Diamond Leung reports that the Colorado Rockies have released Russ Ortiz.
Ortiz, 35, made the Houston Astros out of spring training and chewed up some decent innings before tailing off. He then signed a deal with the Yankees before later optioning out. For the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate, Ortiz gave up 12 runs in 14 innings. From 2005-9 including a hiatus in 2008, Ortiz is 10-28 with a 6.56 ERA in 312 2/3 innings. Perhaps we've finally heard the last of him. Source: Twitter: Diamond Leung
