According to Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Indians may be shopping closer Kerry Wood at this week's Winter Meetings.
It really makes no sense for a bad baseball team to pay a closer $10.5 million (Wood's salary for 2010) when said team rarely holds a lead by the sixth inning. Wood posted a 1.38 WHIP and 63/28 K/BB ratio in 55 innings this past season while earning 20 saves. The Indians could turn to youngster Chris Perez next year if they're able to get rid of the 32-year-old Wood.

Buster Olney of ESPN.com writes that the Indians are willing to listen to offers on Kerry Wood.
And why wouldn't they? Again, Olney reminds of the closer-rich market this winter, so it will be challenging to trade him without eating a large portion of his contract. The 32-year-old right-hander is owed is owed $10.5 million for 2010. He also has an $11 million vesting option for 2011 if he finishes 55 games in 2010, but he didn't come close to that mark in 2009.

Kerry Wood struck out two in a perfect ninth Sunday for his 18th save of the year.
Wood, who went 20 days in between save chances last month, has converted four in the last 12 days. He has a 2.45 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 18 1/3 innings since the All-Star break.

Kerry Wood uncorked a wild pitch in the 13th inning to give the Cubs a wild 6-5 win.
Wood entered the game with a 5-4 lead thanks to Luis Valbuena's second homer of the day, but Wood quickly gave that up with an RBI single by Andres Blanco. The game-tying single was set up by a Kelly Shoppach throwing error that enabled Kosuke Fukudome to get to third base. Blanco would eventually come around to score on a wild pitch with one out. Wood has blown saves in consecutive days against his former club. The game took four hours and 27 minutes to complete.

Facing his old team, Kerry Wood blew his third save by giving up a game-tying homer to Derrek Lee in the ninth inning Friday.
Wood had gone 11 straight appearances without allowing a run, but he's still been nothing more than an average reliever with his 4.81 ERA this year. The Indians sure could have put their $20 million to better use.

Kerry Wood blew a save opportunity and lost the game against the Royals on Tuesday night.
He was pounded for four runs on three hits, including back-to-back homers by Mark Jacobs and Mark Teahen. The winning run scored on a sacrifice fly by Willie Bloomquist. It was the second blown save of the season for Wood. He has an 8.31 ERA in 15 appearances this season.
