According to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com, right-hander Bob Howry can void the $3 million club option for 2011 in his new contract with the Diamondbacks if he's traded during the upcoming season.
Howry, 36, signed a one-year, $2 million contract with Arizona before the new year. The team holds an option for 2011 at $3 million with a $250,000 buyout, but it can be voided by Howry if he is traded. Also of note, Gilbert reports that if Howry finishes 40 games in 2010 the option becomes a mutual option and the buyout will be paid if either side declines. Lastly, Arizona agreed not to offer Howry arbitration if he is a Type A free agent.

 Bob Howry-R - Diamondbacks Dec. 28 - 7:28 pm et

Diamondbacks signed RHP Bob Howry to a one-year, $2 million contract with a $3 million club option for 2011.
Howry, 36, posted a 3.39 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 46/23 K/BB ratio in 63 1/3 innings with the Giants this year. He's just as reliable as some of the other relievers who've landed multi-year contracts this winter and should do just fine in a setup role for the Diamondbacks next season.

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that reliever Bob Howry is scheduled to undergo a physical with the Diamondbacks on Monday.
It will finalize a one-year, $3 million contract with Arizona, bringing the 36-year-old Phoenix-native home. Howry posted a 3.39 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 46/23 K/BB ratio in 63 1/3 innings with the Giants last season. He's beginning to trend in the wrong direction, but he shouldn't hurt the Diamondbacks too much.

The Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro reports that the Diamondbacks and Bob Howry have come to terms on a one-year deal with an option for 2011.
The contract is worth between $2 million-$3 million. Howry was guaranteed $2.75 million last season under the terms of a one-year deal with the Giants. He had a 3.39 ERA for San Francisco, but he wasn't one of the team's trusted relievers after failing to impress early on. He totaled 10 holds and just three over the final three months.

 Bengie Molina-C - Giants Dec. 1 - 11:59 pm et

The Giants did not offer arbitration to any of their free agents.
San Francisco didn't want to risk paying Bengie Molina close to $8 million next season, which is the sum he probably would have received through the salary arbitration process. The decision will make him more attractive to outside clubs because signing him no longer requires draft pick compensation. He was a Type A free agent and would have gained the Giants a first round pick. Type B guys Randy Winn, Randy Johnson and Bob Howry were also declined arbitration.

 Merkin Valdez-R - Blue Jays May. 6 - 9:23 am et

Merkin Valdez has emerged as the primary setup man in San Francisco.
The Giants forked over close to $11 million for relievers Jeremy Affeldt and Bobby Howry this offseason, but Valdez has been the most reliable man in the 'pen. "Merkin, the way he's throwing, he's going to be helping to set up," manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday night.
