 J.D. Drew-OF - Red Sox Oct. 2 - 5:21 pm et

J.D. Drew received a cortisone shot in his left shoulder Wednesday, accounting for his absence from the lineup Thursday and Friday.
Drew is battling shoulder soreness, but said he will be "fine and ready to play at least one game this weekend." It appears as if this is all generally a precautionary move. For those wondering, the injury clause that allows the Sox to escape from his contract in 2009 or 2010 is to his right shoulder, not left.

 J.D. Drew-OF - Red Sox Oct. 1 - 6:02 pm et

J.D. Drew is out of the lineup Thursday with a shoulder injury.
It's not deemed serious, just sore. It may be enough to hold him out until the weekend. Boston obviously is being extra-cautious this close to the playoffs. Joey Gathright makes his third career start in right.

 J.D. Drew-OF - Red Sox Sep. 29 - 10:34 pm et

J.D. Drew was 3-for-4 with a three-run homer in a loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday night.
Drew provided some hope with a three-run blast during a five-run eighth inning, but the Red Sox ultimately fell one run short. Drew is batting .276 with 22 homers and 66 RBI in 449 at-bats this season. For all the grief he has taken at times this season, Drew is second among American League outfielders with a .898 OPS.
 J.D. Drew-OF - Red Sox Sep. 19 - 10:46 pm et

J.D. Drew finished 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI as the Red Sox topped the Orioles 11-5 on Saturday night in Baltimore.
Drew hit an RBI single in the seventh inning and added a three-run homer in the eighth as the Red Sox put on an offensive show in front of a Boston-friendly crowd at Camden Yards. He's batting .269 this season with 21 dingers and 63 RBI in 128 games. The Red Sox are running away with the AL Wild Card.
 Victor Martinez-C - Red Sox Sep. 9 - 4:26 pm et

Victor Martinez is not in the starting lineup Wednesday.
No injury here, just some scheduled rest for the regular catcher/first baseman, who could still make an appearance as a pinch-hitter. Jason Varitek gets the start behind the plate, with J.D. Drew hitting in Martinez's customary No. 3 spot in the order.
