Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse reports the Rockies have declined RHP Rafael Betancourt's $5.4 million option for 2010.
Betancourt, 34, posted an impressive 1.78 ERA in 25 1/3 innings after being acquired by the Rockies in July, but $5.4 million is a bit much for a setup man. The Rox are hoping to sign him for a lesser salary.

Rafael Betancourt rejected a two-year deal worth $6.5-7 million, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
Betancourt is still likely to return to Colorado thanks to the Rockies' expected tendering of arbitration and the right-hander's status as a Type-A free agent -- he would cost a high draft pick of anyone who signed him in that situation. The 34-year old posted a 1.78 ERA in 25 1/3 innings after being acquired by the Rockies in July.

According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, the Rockies are negotiating with Rafael Betancourt.
Betancourt has a $5.4 million option for next season, but the club would like to lock him up to a multi-year contract. The 34-year-old right-hander posted a 2.73 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 56 innings this season, including a 1.78 ERA in 25 1/3 innings after bring acquired by the Rockies in July.

Rafael Betancourt (calf) threw a successful bullpen session Wednesday.
Because he had no issues with his sore calf, he should be available out of the bullpen on Wednesday.

Huston Street was held out of Wednesday's save opportunity with biceps tendinitis and likely will miss the rest of the week.
Street will take a couple of days off and play toss this weekend. If all goes well, he could resume getting into games after that. Franklin Morales picked up the save in his place tonight. Rafael Betancourt would likely be the choice in a ninth inning in which several righties were due up.

Rafael Betancourt admitted Friday that he's dealing with a sore groin.
Betancourt was acquired in late July from the Indians and has thrown 12 scoreless innings out of the Colorado bullpen. "It's not 100 percent healthy, and I have to deal with that," he said. "I don't know exactly how it happened." He has 13 strikeouts and just two walks in his time with the Rox.
