According to Jim Street of MLB.com, free agent first baseman Russell Branyan has rejected a one-year offer from the Mariners.
Branyan, who turns 34 this winter, clearly thinks he deserves a multi-year contract. And he may have a point. The first baseman was finally given ample playing time this season and rewarded the Mariners with a batting line of .251/.347/.520, a career-high 31 home runs and 76 RBI. "I don't want another one-and-done [contract]," he told MLB.com.

 Jack Wilson-SS - Mariners Nov. 10 - 1:40 pm et

Larry LaRue of the Tacoma News Tribune reports that the Mariners have extended contract offers to Jack Wilson and Russell Branyan.
According to the report, neither have accepted and negotiations are ongoing. LaRue doesn't mention any dollar amounts, but notes that Wilson's was offered a multi-year contract. The Mariners must decide by Sunday whether to exercise the slick-fielding shortstop's $8.4 million option for 2010, or buy him out for $600,000. The two sides are believed to be negotiating a multi-year contract that would pay him less annually.

 Russell Branyan-1B - Mariners Oct. 1 - 8:52 am et

Mariners activated 1B Russell Branyan from the 15-day disabled list.
Branyan might not be at full strength just yet, but he'll fight through any lingering back discomfort in order to pad his free agent resume. The 34-year-old has hit .251/.347/.520 this season with 31 home runs and 76 RBI. He should be looking at a decent pay day this winter.
 Russell Branyan-1B - Mariners Sep. 28 - 2:58 pm et

Russell Branyan (back) is doubtful to return this season.
His back hasn't responded as well as hoped since he resumed hitting. Branyan has been out since late August with a herniated disk. "It doesn't look real promising right now that he'll finish the year," manager Don Wakamatsu said. Mike Carp is one of the players getting extra at-bats in his place.

 Russell Branyan-1B - Mariners Sep. 27 - 3:53 pm et

Russell Branyan's back hasn't responded as well as hoped since he resumed hitting, making a return this week unlikely.
Branyan only hit off a tee Friday and Saturday. Mike Carp is one of the players getting extra at-bats in his place.
 Russell Branyan-1B - Mariners Sep. 25 - 12:17 am et

Russell Branyan took batting practice Thursday for the first time since suffering a herniated disc in late August.
Branyan will try to field ground balls on Friday. If he makes it through that workout without any trouble, activation from the disabled list should be right around the corner. "[Friday] is a big test for him," manager Don Wakamatsu said, "and we'll see how he comes out of it."
