Rangers outrighted RHP Kris Benson to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Benson cleared waivers and has accepted the assignment. The mop-up reliever was 1-1 with an 8.46 ERA in eight games for Texas. He was replaced on the roster by Jason Grilli, who was signed to a minor league contract Tuesday afternoon.

Matt Harrison has been scratched from his scheduled start on Saturday due to a sore shoulder.
Brandon McCarthy, who was scheduled to start the first game of Friday's doubleheader, will now start on Saturday. The Rangers may call up Doug Mathis or Tommy Hunter to start the first game of Friday's doubleheader, or they could turn to Kris Benson. Regardless, the team is expected to wait a few days before deciding whether or not to place Harrison on the DL.

Rangers activated RHP Kris Benson from the 15-day disabled list.
Benson will act as a reliever and emergency starter for the time being. He's been out of commission since April 16 and shouldn't be considered in fantasy leagues no matter what role he holds.

The Rangers are expected to activate Kris Benson (elbow) from the disabled list on Wednesday afternoon.
Luis Mendoza will be optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma in order to make room. There's nothing official just yet, but it sounds like Benson is going to return as a reliever initially. He could definitely make a spot start down the road.

Rangers GM Jon Daniels hinted Monday that Kris Benson (elbow) could return from the disabled list as a reliever.
Benson tossed five innings in a rehab outing Sunday, so he'll boast the pitch count of a starter, but the Rangers like the way Scott Feldman is dealing and don't necessarily have an open spot in the rotation. Nothing is official, but Benson could be moved into the bullpen as soon as Wednesday.

Kris Benson (elbow) allowed three runs over five innings Sunday in his rehab start for Double-A Frisco.
He struck out four and walked one. It's possible that Benson will be activated to start for the Rangers on Friday. Scott Feldman could return to the bullpen.
