Blue Jays designated LHP Bill Murphy for assignment.
Murphy pitched in eight games for the Jays in April and May, allowing four runs in 11 1/3 innings. The third-round pick from Oakland's Moneyball draft in 2002 has bounced around a bunch, and it doesn't look like he'll ever turn into a useful reliever. He'll likely clear waivers and become a free agent.

Murphy allowed four earned runs and compiled a 6/8 K/BB ratio in 11 innings with the Jays. He'll be recalled if the club needs bullpen depth down the road.

Blue Jays recalled LHP Bill Murphy from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Murphy has typically been a starter during his career, but the Jays were using him as a reliever and he threw two scoreless innings in his only appearance at Las Vegas. He may just be up until Jesse Litsch needs to be replaced in the rotation.
