Ted Lilly held the Cardinals to two runs over 7 2/3 innings on Friday night, but didn't figure into the decision in an eventual 3-2 loss.
Lilly got off to an excellent start, retiring the first nine batters he faced. However, the Cardinals made a bit more hay the second time through the lineup, scoring two runs in the fifth inning. All told, Lilly allowed five hits against six strikeouts and zero walks. He has allowed two runs or less in all seven of his starts since returning from the disabled list. Lilly carries a 3.02 ERA and 1.06 WHIP (5th best in the league) into a start against the Brewers next week.
