According to FOXSports.com, the Brewers didn't want Ryan Doumit in exchange for J.J. Hardy.
They weren't interested in Matt Capps, either. Instead, the Brewers asked for one of two left-handed starters, Zach Duke or Paul Maholm. The Pirates declined, so the the Brewers went on to trade Hardy to the Twins in exchange for 23-year-old center fielder Carlos Gomez. It's clear that the Pirates are willing to swap Doumit in the right package. The 28-year-old catcher is set to earn $3.55 million in 2010 and $5.1 million in 2011, with club options for two additional seasons.

According to FOXSports.com, Pirates catcher Ryan Doumit drew interest from several teams at the GM meetings this week.
Some sources in the industry believe the Pirates wouldn't hesitate to move the 28-year-old Doumit if an attractive offer comes along. He hit .250/.299/.414 this season with 10 home runs and 38 RBI in 280 at-bats, and many major league scouts believe he can play the outfield and first base. He is set to earn $3.55 million in 2010 and $5.1 million in 2011.

Ryan Doumit has been diagnosed with a concussion and is done for 2009.
Doumit was struck in the mask by a foul tip on Friday night and showed up to the ballpark Saturday "a little woozy." He hit .250/.299/.414 this season with 10 home runs and 38 RBI in 280 at-bats.

Ryan Doumit went 4-for-4 with a homer, a double and four RBI as the Pirates beat the Cubs 8-2 on Wednesday night to finish a doubleheader sweep.
Charlie Morton and Jeff Karstens outpitched Ted Lilly and Carlos Zambrano, which qualifies as quite an upset. Doumit finishes September with a .346 average, though that came with just two homers in 81 at-bats. It's still a big improvement over anything else he's done this season.

Ryan Doumit is starting in right field Saturday against the Padres, his first outfield action since 2007.

Ryan Doumit belted a solo homer as the Pirates beat the Astros 2-1 on Sunday.
It was his first homer in 14 games but his ninth in 60 games this season. Doumit's power hasn't been a disappointment overall, but his .239 average and amount of time on the disabled list are. He'll come quite cheap next year and will be worth a flier since he still has plenty of talent, but Doumit's injury history means he'll need to be paired with a solid second option.
