Astros owner Drayton McLane was approached by a New York investment banking company last month interested in purchasing the Astros.
The two sides are now engaged in a 30-day exclusive negotiating window, though McLane insists a sale is not imminent. "We've said from time to time [that] people come to us, and they asked, 'If we can raise a certain amount of money, would you be interested in selling the Houston Astros?' And I said, 'Sure,' " McLane said. "We gave them an exclusive window." Many Houston-area columnists expect McLane to retain ownership of the club. |
