Tomo Ohka was rocked for seven runs in five innings in a loss to the Red Sox on Sunday.
Ohka gave up three homers in the contest, raising his ERA to 5.96. He's unlikely to be back with the Indians next season. The Indians finished a disappointing season at 65-97, tying them with the Royals for the fourth worst record in baseball. The Indians will lose the tie-breaker and pick fifth in the 2010 draft.

Jeremy Sowers will be recalled to start on Saturday in Seattle.
Sowers was optioned to Triple-A Columbus a few weeks back after going 2-7 with a 5.77 ERA in 11 games (10 starts). He made only one start for Columbus, surrendering five runs in 6 1/3 innings in a loss to Syracuse on Sunday. Tomo Ohka will shift to the bullpen to make way. A member of Cleveland's 'pen will be demoted after Friday's game to make room on the roster for Sowers.

Tomo Ohka was tagged for five runs in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Tigers on Sunday.
Jeremy Sowers wasn't pitching well at all, but when the alternative was Ohka, it made more sense to keep him around than to send him back down. Ohka has a 6.40 ERA in four starts and three relief appearances.

Tomo Ohka held the Cardinals to two earned runs over seven innings Saturday but was handed the loss.
It was Ohka's first start of the season, and he impressed. Other than the pair of solo shots he served up to Albert Pujols, the 33-year-old Ohka allowed just five hits, struck out two and did not walk a batter. He's a risky play, but AL-only leaguers seeking starting pitching might as well monitor his progress.

Indians purchased the contract of RHP Tomo Ohka from Triple-A Columbus.
Ohka was 3-3 with a 3.42 ERA in nine starts at the Triple-A level. He'll provide long relief with the Tribe and could get a start in an emergency. He was signed to a minor league contract this winter but failed to make the roster out of spring training.

Indians optioned LHP Rich Rundles to Triple-A Columbus; reassigned RHP Tomo Ohka and LHP Ryan Edell to minor league camp.
Rundles, who spent last September in the majors with Cleveland, gave up eight earned runs in four innings this spring. Ohka allowed 10 runs -- six earned -- in 3 2/3 innings.
