Brewers signed LHP Doug Davis to a one-year, $4.25 million contract with a $6.5 million mutual option for 2011.
The Brewers had a pitiful starting rotation last season beyond Yovani Gallardo and Davis should provide an immediate upgrade. That said, he hasn't posted an ERA under 4.00 since back in 2005 and he finished the 2009 season with a 9-14 record, a 4.12 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP in 34 starts.

Doug Davis' flight to Milwaukee Thursday evening was canceled, thus delaying his scheduled physical with the Brewers.
The Brewers were hoping to run Davis through a physical examination Friday morning and officially announce his new deal in the afternoon. It appears we may have to wait until Saturday for an official announcement, however. Davis, 34, agreed to terms on a one-year, $4.25 million contract with Milwaukee on Wednesday. The deal also includes a $6.5 million option for 2011.

Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports that the Brewers have signed left-hander Doug Davis to a one-year, $4.25 million contract with a $6.5 million mutual option for 2011.
The agreement is pending a physical. With a $1 million buyout on the mutual option, Davis is set to receive $5.25 million guaranteed as part of the contract. He could earn an additional $1 million in incentives for each season. The 34-year-old southpaw was 9-14 with a 4.12 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 34 starts with the Diamondbacks last season and previously pitched with the Brewers from 2003-06.

The agent for free agent left-hander Doug Davis has been in contact with the Brewers, reports Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
"Doug would love to play for the Brewers," said Davis' agent Steve Canter. "The organization was great to him when he was there, and they've got a great mix over there. Doug Melvin is building a contender over there." Davis, 34, was 37-36 with a 3.92 ERA with the Brewers from 2003-06.

Free agent LHP Doug Davis is drawing interest from the Twins, Brewers, Mets and Nationals, reports FOXSports.com's Jon Paul Morosi.
Davis, a soft-tossing left-hander, has spent the last three years with the Diamondbacks. He started 34 games in 2009, posting a 4.12 ERA in 203.1 innings. Davis would be best served to wait until Joel Pineiro comes off the board, at which point he would see his value increase.
