| Doug Davis's 2010 Profile | | Davis has plenty to offer a major league team. He’s made 33 starts five of the last six seasons, with the only exception coming after thyroid cancer limited him to 26 starts in 2008. Yes, even cancer cost him barely six weeks. Also, he’s posted ERAs in the low-4.00s each of the last three seasons, even though he was working in one of the NL’s best parks for hitters. Give him decent support, and he’s exactly a .500 pitcher. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives from a fantasy standpoint. Davis typically works in the mid-80s, and he has to pitch outside of the strike zone in order to succeed. That means a lot of walks, resulting in ugly WHIPs, and high pitch counts, which force him from games fairly early and thus costs him a couple of wins each season. He should benefit with a return to Milwaukee, but not enough to be of any real use outside of NL-only leagues. | | Year | Tm | G | GS | IP | W | L | HLDS | S | K | ERA | WHIP | | Proj | MLW | - | - | 199.2 | 10 | 12 | 0 | 0 | 145 | 4.46 | 1.52 | | 2009 | ARZ | 34 | 34 | 203.1 | 9 | 14 | 0 | 0 | 146 | 4.12 | 1.50 | | 2008 | ARZ | 26 | 26 | 146.0 | 6 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 112 | 4.32 | 1.53 | | 2007 | ARZ | 33 | 33 | 192.2 | 13 | 12 | 0 | 0 | 144 | 4.25 | 1.59 |
