Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the White Sox have re-signed catcher Ramon Castro to a one-year, $1 million contract with a club option for 2011.
Well, the chances of top prospect Tyler Flowers making the team just took a hit. Castro, who turns 34 in March, was thought to be on the verge of a deal with the Blue Jays last month, but it never materialized. The veteran backstop batted .219/.292/.406 with seven homers and 25 RBI in 155 at-bats last season for the Mets and White Sox.

Ramon Castro is still a free agent, according to Mike Wilner of 590 The Fan in Toronto.
It was reported that the Jays signed the 33-year-old Castro to a one-year deal worth roughly $1 million earlier this month, but the transaction was never confirmed by the team. "The Jays never did sign him, despite getting involved in negotiations with him," wrote Wilner. "I’m not sure how or why it fell through, or if it even got close enough to reach the point where one can even accurately say that it "fell through", but it didn’t happen. " Wilner reports that the Jays will move ahead with John Buck as the starting catcher and Raul Chavez as the backup.

According to ESPN.com's Jorge Arangure, the Blue Jays have signed catcher Ramon Castro to a one-year deal worth close to $1 million.
Castro, 33, batted .219/.292/.406 with seven homers and 25 RBI in 155 at-bats this year for the White Sox. The offseason is far from over, and things could change, but he's likely to serve as a backup in Toronto next season.

 Jermaine Dye-OF - White Sox Dec. 1 - 1:39 pm et

The White Sox will not offer arbitration to outfielder Jermaine Dye, right-hander Octavio Dotel, outfielder Scott Podsednik and catcher Ramon Castro.
Dye and Dotel, both Type A free agents, just became more attractive on the free agent market, as they won't cost their new teams a high draft choice. Podsednik or Castro did not receive a free agent ranking. Among the four, Podsednik is the most likely to return to Chicago.

 Ramon Castro-C - White Sox Jul. 1 - 9:54 pm et

Ramon Castro launched a three-run homer in a win over the Indians on Wednesday night.
The sixth inning home run gave the White Sox a 4-1 lead. Castro hasn't had many chances with A.J. Pierzynski in front of him -- he's batting .143 with two homers and five RBI in just 21 at-bats since joining the White Sox. Castro has plenty of pop, especially against lefties, but he just won't see enough playing time to be fantasy relevant.
