Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports that right-hander Eric Gagne has tentative workouts scheduled with the Rockies, Dodgers and Blue Jays.
The Phillies reportedly sent scouts to Arizona to watch the 34-year-old right-hander throw on Wednesday, but they aren't alone in their interest. Gagne spent the 2009 season as a player-coach with the Quebec Capitales of the independent Can-Am League and hasn't appeared in the majors since 2008 with the Brewers.

 Eric Gagne-R - Brewers Jan. 20 - 8:18 am et

According to a report out of Quebec, passed along by the Philadelphia Daily News, Eric Gagne will work out in front of Phillies scouts this week.
"I'm very excited to have this chance," Gagne told CKAC, a French-language radio station in Quebec, Canada. "There are many players that I know well on that team, including outfielder Jayson Werth." The 34-year-old righty spent the 2009 season as a player-coach with the Capitales of the independent Can-Am League. He last appeared in a major league game back in 2008, when he posted a 5.44 ERA in 46 1/3 innings for the Brewers.

The Brewers are unlikely to bring back Eric Gagne, reports Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.
Gagne, who turns 34 in January, told reporters at a charity event last week that he would like to make one more bid for the majors as a starting pitcher, but he should cross at least one of his former teams off his list. "I don't see that," Brewers assistant GM Gord Ash wrote in an e-mail. Gagne hasn't pitched in the majors since 2008 with Milwaukee, but he posted a 4.65 ERA in 17 starts as a player-coach with the Quebec Capitales of the independent Can-Am League. He has expressed a willingness to open the season in the minor leagues.

Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports! writes that Eric Gagne hopes to return to the major leagues as a starting pitcher.
It seems far-fetched, but the 33-year-old was a starting pitcher with with the Quebec Capitales of the independent Can-Am League this season, posting a 4.65 ERA in 17 starts. Though the league is effectively baseball Siberia, Gagne added a cutter to his arsenal, a pitch he believes can be an effective weapon against left-handers. The road back to the majors won't be easy, as he would likely have to prove himself on the minor league level first.

Eric Gagne is still hoping to return to the majors this season.
Gagne inked a deal with the Quebec Capitales of the independent Can-Am League on Tuesday. He's hoping a strong showing up north could spark the interest of several MLB clubs. "Hopefully, I can come back to the major leagues sooner rather than later," he said. "Right now, I'm not looking at that. I'm looking to get healthy. ... I'm about 80-85%"

Eric Gagne signed with the Quebec Capitales of the Independent Can-Am league.
Gagne isn't yet ready to pitch, but he's expected to begin starting in a week or so. If he shows that he's over a slight rotator cuff tear, MLB scouts will begin trekking up to Quebec to check him out.
