 J.C. Romero-R- PhilliesOct. 18 - 8:56 am et
J.C. Romero (elbow surgery) said Saturday that he intends to be at full strength for the start of spring training next season.
"My goal is to be ready to go when spring training starts," said the lefty, "although I may go a little slower because I don't want to get ahead of myself." It's a tough proposition. Romero underwent elbow surgery just one week ago and was given a recovery time of five-to-six months. Factor in a few setbacks, and it seems doubtful he'll be able to reach his goal.

 J.C. Romero-R - Phillies Oct. 7 - 3:41 pm et

J.C. Romero underwent successful elbow surgery on Wednesday.
General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. says that Romero's recovery time is expected to be five to six months, making it unlikely that he'll be ready at the outset of the 2010 season. Romero had a 2.70 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 16 2/3 innings in 2009.

Phillies left-hander J.C. Romero will undergo elbow surgery on Thursday.
The procedure will repair a flexor tendon in his pitching elbow. With a recovery time of 3-4 months, and assuming he hits a few setbacks, Romero could be in danger of missing the start of spring training.

J.C. Romero (forearm) has been shut down for the rest of the season.
Romero will not be around to help the Phillies in their quest for back-to-back titles. He was activated off the disabled list a week ago, but came to the conclusion Friday that he might be rushing his recovery. "The arm is not recovering the way it should," he said. "When they say tendinitis, that means rest. The most I've rested the whole time is 10 days. I've probably got to rest a whole month or so." Scott Eyre will be relied on heavily in the playoffs.

Phillies activated LHP J.C. Romero from the 15-day disabled list.
Romero has been sidelined since August 4 with a forearm strain, but has looked healthy during a few stints in the Phillies' fall instructional league. He returns to a 2.87 ERA and will resume his role as a lefty specialist.
 J.C. Romero-R - Phillies Sep. 26 - 5:52 pm et

J.C. Romero (forearm) felt fine after tossing another inning with the Phillies' fall instructional league on Saturday.
Romero is now headed back to Philadelphia. If he responds well, it's possible that he could be activated for the start of a four-game series against the Astros on Monday. The southpaw has been out of action since August 4 due to a forearm strain.
