The Phillies and RHP Chad Durbin avoided arbitration Monday by agreeing to a one-year, $2.125 million contract.
Durbin, who just turned 32, missed a good chunk of time last season while battling back issues. He had a 4.39 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP when healthy and will serve a similar role in middle relief this year.

Phillies activated RHP Chad Durbin from the disabled list.
Durbin posted a 4.62 ERA in 48 2/3 innings prior to hitting the shelf with a right latissimus strain. He will return to a middle relief role.

Chad Durbin (lat strain) will make a rehab appearance with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday.
Durbin has been sidelined since July 23 due to a strained muscle in his back. If all goes well, he should join the Phillies next week.

Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said Thursday that Chad Durbin (lat strain) is "close" to being activated.
Durbin has been sidelined since July 23. He's currently working on his form at Single-A Clearwater and should join the Phils over the weekend.

If Durbin wakes up Monday with no abnormal soreness, he'll be penciled in to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday at Single-A Clearwater. The right-hander has been sidelined since July 23 and is still aiming for a mid-August return.

Brett Myers threw long-toss Friday and came out feeling good, so he will throw a bullpen session Sunday.
Myers is expected to return in mid-August as a reliever. He will be joined by Chad Durbin and J.C. Romeo in throwing bullpens Sunday, so the Phillies will suddenly have a ton of pitchers on their hands in the next few weeks.
