Mariners acquired OF Milton Bradley from the Cubs for RHP Carlos Silva.
Chalk up another victory for Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik. Bradley didn't do much hitting this season in Chicago and had his fair share of battles with the media, but he's just one year removed from a career-best .321/.436/.563 batting line. We're betting he sees a slight resurgence in Seattle, where the media is looser and the fans are friendlier. He will man left field at Safeco and is likely to find time at designated hitter as well.

 Carlos Silva-S - Cubs Dec. 18 - 1:48 pm et

According to the Chicago Tribune's Paul Sullivan, the Cubs will receive $9 million from the Mariners to cover part of Carlos Silva's remaining salary.
Silva is owed $24 million over the next two seasons and Mitlon Bradley is owed $21 million, so the Cubs are basically saving $6 million in the deal. Of course, that doesn't make up for the fact that Chicago is getting by far the worse player. Silva posted an 8.60 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in 30 innings this past season and a 6.46 ERA over 153 1/3 innings in 2008. Bradley batted a disappointing .257/.378/.397 in 2009 with Chicago but is only one year removed from a career-best .321/.436/.563 batting line.

 Milton Bradley-OF - Mariners Dec. 18 - 12:27 pm et

According to the Seattle Times' Larry Stone, the Cubs have agreed to trade Milton Bradley to the Mariners for right-hander Carlos Silva.
It'll be interesting to see what kind of money is being exchanged. Silva, who is owed $24 million over the next two years, posted an 8.60 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in 30 innings this past season and a 6.46 ERA in 153 1/3 innings the year before. Bradley, owed $21 million, batted a disappointing .257/.378/.397 this season with Chicago but is only one year removed from a career-best .321/.436/.563 batting line. For now, it appears the Mariners and GM Jack Zduriencik have pulled off another excellent deal.

According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Mariners have reemerged as a possible trade partner for the Cubs and Milton Bradley.
The M's are hoping to deal Carlos Silva and the $24 million remaining on his salary to the Cubs in exchange for Bradley and his $21 million tab. It'd be an impressive feat, though. Silva, 30, posted an 8.60 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in 30 innings this past season and a 6.46 ERA in 153 1/3 innings the year before. He's shown no signs of turning his career around and probably wouldn't fare much better in the tight confines of Wrigley Field.

According to FOXSports.com, the Rays, Rangers and Mariners are interested in the Cubs' Milton Bradley but no trade is close.
The Rays and Cubs have been unable to find common ground on the financial terms of a Bradley-for-Pat Burrell swap and the Rangers aren't sure they want to reintroduce him to their clubhouse chemistry. The Mariners, according to FOXSports.com, "might be an even bigger longshot." The Northsiders have had real trouble unloading their disgruntled outfielder this winter, mostly because he's owed $21 million over the next two seasons.

Cubs officials say they are "close" to trading outfielder Milton Bradley, with all indications saying he'll be headed to the Rays, reports Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
Could it finally happen? We've heard reports of "imminent" and "close" involving Bradley before, only to have them fall through. That said, Tampa has made the most sense all along. It's been rumored that Pat Burrell would head to Chicago to complete the trade, but Nightengale doesn't name who the Cubs would receive in return. What he does say is that the Cubs would look to sign Mike Cameron or Marlon Byrd once they shed Bradley.
