According to ESPN.com, the White Sox have distributed a memo notifying opposing teams that veterans Jermaine Dye, Jim Thome and Scott Linebrink are available.
It would appear the White Sox -- 5 1/2 games behind the Tigers in the AL Central -- are throwing in the towel on the 2009 season. All three vets are likely to draw a good amount of interest, but the White Sox are probably most motivated to move Dye. He's a free agent this fall and they acquired outfielder Alex Rios in July. The deadline to work out a deal is Monday at midnight. |
