 Ryan Doumit-C- PiratesNov. 14 - 2:20 pm et
According to FOXSports.com, the Brewers didn't want Ryan Doumit in exchange for J.J. Hardy.
They weren't interested in Matt Capps, either. Instead, the Brewers asked for one of two left-handed starters, Zach Duke or Paul Maholm. The Pirates declined, so the the Brewers went on to trade Hardy to the Twins in exchange for 23-year-old center fielder Carlos Gomez. It's clear that the Pirates are willing to swap Doumit in the right package. The 28-year-old catcher is set to earn $3.55 million in 2010 and $5.1 million in 2011, with club options for two additional seasons.

 Zach Duke-S - Pirates Oct. 3 - 10:14 pm et

Zach Duke was hammered for five earned runs over five innings in a loss to the Reds on Saturday evening in Cincinnati.
Not the best way to end the year. His ERA hung in the 3.00's for most of the season, but is now locked in at 4.08 for all of eternity. He'll pair that with a 1.31 WHIP and an 11-16 record.

Joe Kerrigan will return as pitching coach next season.
"It's been a great experience because of the young pitchers, these great kids," said Kerrigan. "I really enjoyed it, as much as I have any season in baseball. And we'll be better. They've learned a lot. They understand how valuable each pitch is." The Pirates are 14th in the league with a 4.63 ERA. In addition to the announcement about Kerrigan, general manager Neal Huntington said that the team will not renew the contract of coach Rich Donnelly.

 Zach Duke-S - Pirates Sep. 28 - 3:39 pm et

Zach Duke lasted 8 2/3 innings and allowed one run Monday in the rout of the Dodgers.
Duke almost notched his fourth career shutout, but Orlando Hudson tripled with one out in the ninth and scored on Chin-Lung Hu's sac fly. That prompted the Pirates to remove Duke from the game. The win Duke's first since Aug. 22 and second since July 24. He'sw 11-15 with a 3.94 ERA.

Zach Duke allowed two runs over 7 1/3 innings against the Dodgers on Tuesday night, but suffered a no-decision in an eventual 5-4 loss in 13 innings.
Thanks to Matt Capps, Duke remains winless since August 22. He kept the Dodgers in check by allowing just three hits against seven strikeouts and zero walks. The only real trouble he encountered was in the fifth inning when both runs scored. Duke even helped himself with an RBI single in the third inning. He pulled his ERA back down to 3.96 in the tough no-decision. He's a solid start against the Padres next.
 Zach Duke-S - Pirates Sep. 8 - 10:33 pm et

Zach Duke was touched up for eight runs over four innings in a 9-4 loss to the Cubs on Tuesday night.
An ugly outing, Duke was greeted by eight straight hits, tying a major-league record. The Cubs put up a seven-spot before the first inning was even over. Duke's ERA jumped from 3.71 to 4.02 in the loss. Now at 186 innings, the 26-year-old southpaw has logged his most innings since his first full-season in 2006.
