The Tigers will not pursue Jarrod Washburn or Aubrey Huff as free agents.
"We called both Jarrod and Aubrey this week and told them we will not be pursuing them," general manager Dave Dombrowski said. "We wished them well." Washburn posted a 7.33 ERA in eight starts after coming over from the Mariners in July while Huff was equally futile, batting just .189/.265/.302 with two home runs and 13 RBI in 40 games after being acquired from the Orioles in August. The Tigers aim to cut payroll this offseason, so neither were expected to return.

 Jarrod Washburn-S - Tigers Oct. 24 - 12:27 pm et

Lynn Henning of the Detroit News says that there is "no way" Jarrod Washburn is brought back to Detroit for 2010, nevermind being offered arbitration.
Washburn went 1-3 with a 7.33 ERA after being acquired from the Mariners at the trade deadline and battled injury issues. It's no surprise that the Tigers aren't keen on bringing him back, but the lefty won't have a problem finding a landing spot. Henning also names Aubrey Huff as someone certain not to return to Detroit.

 Aubrey Huff-1B - Tigers Sep. 14 - 10:57 pm et

Aubrey Huff delivered a game-tying pinch-hit three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth on Monday night to help propel the Tigers to an eventual 10th-inning victory.
The Tigers entered the ninth trailing by three, but Curtis Granderson reached on an error to lead off the inning and Alex Avila followed with a pinch-hit single before Huff launched the tying blast. Brandon Inge scored from second on a Marco Scutaro error in the 10th to give the Tigers the win. The homer was just Huff's second since coming to the Tigers nearly a month ago.

Aubrey Huff was 2-for-2 with two walks and three RBI in a win over the Indians on Tuesday night.
Huff was disappointing with the Orioles, but he's been even worse since joining the Tigers, batting just .088 with one RBI in 34 at-bats entering play on Tuesday. Manager Jim Leyland originally planned to leave him out of Tuesday's lineup, but was rewarded by going with his gut, as Huff had his best night since being acquired. He drove in runs with an RBI single in the first and a two-run double in the fourth.

Aubrey Huff was 1-for-4 in his debut as a Tiger on Tuesday night.
Huff's debut enabled Carlos Guillen to play the field for the first time since May. Fantasy owners will have to watch Jim Leyland's lineup card on a daily basis to see where the slugger will fit in with the Tigers.

Aubrey Huff is batting fifth as the designated hitter Tuesday.
Just acquired from the Orioles, Huff will give Miguel Cabrera some protection. Carlos Guillen plays his first game in the field since going on the disabled list in early May. It still remains to be seen where in the order and in the field Huff will play regularly.
