Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Rangers are expected to name Clint Hurdle as their new hitting coach on Thursday.
The decision was reached on Tuesday, though the Rangers didn't extend an offer until Wednesday. Hurdle, who was fired as manager of the Rockies in May, beat out a list of candidates that included former Rangers outfielder Rusty Greer, former Athletics hitting coach Thad Bosley and former Cubs hitting coach Gerald Perry. He'll replace long-time hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo, who was hired by the Cubs last month. Source: Fort Worth Star-Telegram
