Braves signed infielder-outfielder Eric Hinske to a one-year, $1 million contract.
After appearing in three straight World Series, baseball's good luck charm heads to Atlanta. Hinske, 32, could take home an additional $500,000 in performance incentives. The veteran batted .242/.348/.432 with eight home runs and 32 RBI in 190 at-bats between the Pirates and Yankees in '09. He'll be a useful left-handed bat who can play both corner outfield positions as well as first and third base.

Newly signed outfielder Eric Hinkse is scheduled to undergo his physical for the Braves next Tuesday.

He will earn $1 million in base salary and can rack up another $500,000 through performance-based incentives. The 32-year-old batted .242/.348/.432 with eight home runs and 32 RBI in 190 at-bats between the Pirates and Yankees last season.

Yankees added Eric Hinske and Brian Bruney to the World Series roster, subtracting Freddy Guzman and Francisco Cervelli.
Playing under NL rules in Philadelphia makes pinch-hitting Hinske more valuable than pinch-running Guzman. By adding Bruney the Yankees have expanded to 12 pitchers after Cervelli got just one plate appearance through the first two rounds.

The Yankees are considering adding Eric Hinkse or Brian Bruney to the World Series roster.
The Yankees could also stick with pinch-runner extraordinaire Freddy Guzman, but since the pinch-hitter becomes more valuable in the National League style of play, expect them to opt for Hinske. While it's unlikely, Hinske also offers an alternative for designated hitter or right field, should Nick Swisher and Hideki Matsui continue to struggle. The only way Bruney would make the roster is if the Yankees decide to go with 12 pitchers.
