Brandon Inge (knees) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.
Inge underwent surgery in November to address chronic patellar tendinitis in both of his knees and had to wear ankle-to-thigh braces for two weeks afterward. "The pain I was feeling all last year is gone," he said Thursday, adding that he expects to be ready by Opening Day. Inge smacked 27 homers and collected a career-high 84 RBI in 2009, however a .186/.260/.281 line after the All-Star break spoiled what might have been a stellar season.

 Brandon Inge-3B - Tigers Nov. 4 - 2:04 pm et

As expected, Brandon Inge underwent surgery Tuesday to address chronic patellar tendinitis in both knees.
Despite the knee problems Inge missed just one game all season, but was awful in the second half as the Tigers coughed up their division lead. He'll be out of commission for about six weeks, but is expected to be fully recovered in time for spring training.

 Brandon Inge-3B - Tigers Oct. 22 - 6:36 pm et

The Tigers announced Thursday afternoon that Brandon Inge will require surgery on both of his knees this offseason.
Earlier reports had Inge undergoing surgery on only one knee, his left. But after consulting with team physician Dr. Stephen Lemos, two procedures were recommended for the third baseman. "Basically, we're looking at all of November, December and January [to recover and rehab]," head trainer Kevin Rand said. "He should be ready to do [baseball] activity at the beginning of Spring Training." Inge hit just .186 after the All-Star break in '09.

Brandon Inge will undergo surgery on his left knee.
Inge played through pain in the knee down the stretch, however an examination since the end of the season confirmed enough damage for doctors to recommend surgery. No official announcement has been made by the team, but the surgery is scheduled for late October or early November. He should be ready in time for the start of Spring Training. Inge tied a career-high with 27 homers and set a new career-high with 84 RBI in 2009, however a .186/.260/.281 line after the All-Star break pulled his season line down to .230/.314/.406. Hopefully he'll bounce back with a healthy knee.

Brandon Inge hit a grand slam off Russ Springer in the top of the ninth to propel the Tigers to a 5-3 win over the Rays on Sunday.
Inge had struck out all three times he was up before getting a chance to face Springer, the fourth of five pitchers used by the Rays in the ninth today. He's now 7-for-12 with two homers and 20 RBI and no strikeouts with the bases loaded this season.
 Brandon Inge-3B - Tigers Aug. 25 - 10:05 am et

Brandon Inge is batting just .165 with three homers and nine RBI since the All-Star break and is currently mired in a 3-for-32 (.094) slump.
Inge hit .268 with 21 home runs and 58 RBI over the first half of the season, but things have clearly changed. He dealt with lingering knee discomfort for most of July and early August, and is just now reporting improvement. We'll see if that was the real issue. His career numbers suggest he may simply be regressing back to the mean.
