Josh Towers has opted for free agency rather than accept an outright assignment to Triple-A Scanton/Wilkes-Barre.
Towers was signed by the Yankees in May, but only made two appearances with the big club in September. Signed for organizational depth, the 32-year-old right-hander was one of Scanton/Wilkes-Barre's best starters, posting a 2.74 ERA in 101 2/3 innings. He would have been arbitration-eligible. |
