 Brian Fuentes-R- AngelsSep. 16 - 11:40 pm et
Brian Fuentes failed to convert a save opportunity against the Red Sox on Wednesday night.
Not only did he blow his seventh save, he allowed two runs to give the Red Sox the 9-8 victory. Fuentes has a 6.38 ERA and four blown saves in 24 appearances since the All-Star break. The idea of splitting ninth-inning duties with Kevin Jepsen is beginning to look better all the time.

 Kevin Jepsen-R - Angels Sep. 14 - 9:27 pm et

Kevin Jepsen is in line to vulture several saves from Brian Fuentes the remainder of the year.
Manager Mike Scioscia confirmed the news. "If there are some matches that could be advantageous [to use Jepsen], we will try to take advantage of [them]," said Scioscia. The right-hander has a 1.36 ERA in 33 innings since July 1. Fuentes has 41 saves on the year, but has been far too inconsistent for the Angels' liking.

 Brian Fuentes-R - Angels Sep. 9 - 9:46 pm et

Angels manager Mike Scioscia endorsed Brian Fuentes after his closer's most recent rocky outing.
Fuentes blew his sixth save of the season on Tuesday against the Mariners. He failed to retire three of the four batters he faced and was yanked for the second time in his last four outings in the middle of an inning. "Every pitcher is searching for consistency and for the most part Brian has kept that," Scioscia said. "There’s been a handful that have gotten away … but the lion’s share, he’s brought his good stuff into the game." Fuentes has an 8.44 ERA in 15 appearances since July 27.

 Matt Palmer-R - Angels May. 31 - 12:30 am et

Matt Palmer tossed seven shutout innings Saturday but was left with a no-decision as the Angels fell to the Mariners in extra innings.
Palmer allowed only four hits. He struck out five and didn't walk a batter while lowering his ERA to 4.06 and his WHIP to 1.15. The Angels entered the ninth inning with a 3-0 lead, but Brian Fuentes blew his third save and the M's worked back to win it in the 10th inning.
 Brian Fuentes-R - Angels May. 1 - 11:28 pm et

Brian Fuentes blew his second save of the season against the Yankees on Friday night.
Fuentes failed to record an out, walking one and giving up three hits to take the loss. He threw only 10 of his 20 pitches for strikes. Some analysts have chalked his shaky start up to bad luck, but it's starting to look like something could really be wrong here.
 Brian Fuentes-R - Angels Apr. 9 - 2:14 am et

Brian Fuentes blew a save and took a loss after giving up three runs in the ninth against the A's on Wednesday.
There weren't a bunch of hard-hit balls, but Fuentes did create his own problem by walking Jason Giambi and later failing to take charge on Kurt Suzuki's chopper hit down the first-base line. It still would have amounted to nothing if Gary Matthews Jr. wasn't weighed down by his wallet while letting Nomar Garciaparra's game-tying single drop in front of him in left. Two more hits followed, giving the A's a 6-4 lead.
