Rockies signed RHP Tim Redding to a minor league contract.

He'll get an invite to Spring Training. Redding, 32, was non-tendered by the Mets in December after posting a 5.10 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 30 games (17 starts) last season. He was bothered by shoulder and toe injuries in '09, but that's no real excuse, because there's not much to like here even when he's healthy. He's nothing more than insurance for a starting rotation that has Jeff Francis returning from shoulder surgery.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies have signed right-hander Tim Redding to a minor league contract.

The contract is non-guaranteed, but Renck expects Redding to make somewhere between $800,000 and $1 million if he makes the major league roster. The 32-year-old compiled a 5.10 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 30 games (17 starts) with the Mets last season and will serve as rotation depth in Colorado.

The Rockies are exploring a deal with RHP Tim Redding.

Colorado GM Dan O'Dowd revealed the team's interest in Redding when speaking Wednesday about various pitching targets his club is after, including Matt Capps, who seems Washington-bound. Redding posted an ugly 5.10 ERA in 17 starts and 13 relief appearances this year but he did close the season strong. The 32-year old would compete for a rotation spot though he might fit better in the bullpen.

Mets non-tendered RHP Tim Redding.

Redding was barely short of qualifying for free agency, so he had to wait for the Mets to let him go before shopping himself around. He knew the Mets weren't going to tender him after a season in which he made $2.2 million and posted a 5.10 ERA in 17 starts and 13 relief appearances. He'll find another team open to giving him a chance to contend for a rotation spot.

The Mets intend to allow Tim Redding and Jeremy Reed to become free agents, reports Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post.

Redding ended the year with a 5.10 ERA thanks to a strong finish. He's likely to land somewhere on a major league deal while Reed will have to fight over scraps for backup outfielders. Hubbuch says the Mets plan to tender John Maine, Pedro Feliciano and Jeff Francouer.

Tim Redding pitched six innings of one-run ball against the Nationals before the Mets bullpen cost him a win Wednesday.

Redding ends the year 3-6 with a 5.10 ERA in 17 starts and 13 relief appearances. He probably would have been released back in June or July had the Mets not battled so many injuries, but he bounced back to post a 3.56 ERA in 68 1/3 innings after the break. That should earn him another major league deal this winter. Technically, the Mets will still have him under control, but they figure to non-tender him in December.
