According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, catcher Yorvit Torrealba declined a two-year, $4.5 million contract from the Rockies.
The Rockies made the offer soon after declining his $4 million option for 2010. Obviously Torrealba feels he's worth a good amount of money after posting a .324/.373/.394 batting line in the second half of 2009. The Rox are prepared to hand starting duties to Chris Iannetta in 2010.

 Yorvit Torrealba-C - Rockies Nov. 6 - 8:10 pm et

Rockies declined catcher Yorvit Torrealba's $4 million option for 2010.
Torrealba, 31, hit .324/.373/.394 after the All-Star break and won starting catching duties, but the Rockies are ready to go with Chris Iannetta in 2010. The Rox haven't ruled out having him return as a backup.

Yorvit Torrealba went 2-for-4 with two RBI Monday but the Rockies were eliminated from postseason play by the Phillies.
Torrealba has been fantastic in clutch situations this fall, collecting 20 hits in his last 33 at-bats with runners in scoring position. He delivered a go-ahead two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning, but Colorado closer Huston Street couldn't wrap it up in the ninth. Torrealba, 31, has a $4 million option for 2010, but with Chris Iannetta in tow, the Rox are likely to let him walk.
 Yorvit Torrealba-C - Rockies Oct. 8 - 6:27 pm et

Yorvit Torrealba went 2-for-3 and hit a two-run homer as the Rockies beat the Phillies 5-4 on Thursday to even up the NLDS after two games.
Carlos Gonzalez collected three hits, and Aaron Cook barely outpitched Cole Hamels through five innings for the victory. The Phillies pulled out all of the stops to win the game, using both Joe Blanton and J.A. Happ in relief, yet they came up short, even after Jayson Werth homered in the eighth and another threat in the ninth against Huston Street. Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday in Colorado, but snow is in the forecast. The Rockies will start Jason Hammel. The Phillies may turn to Pedro Martinez.
 Yorvit Torrealba-C - Rockies Sep. 12 - 1:36 am et

Yorvit Torrealba hit a ninth-inning go-ahead three-run double in a win over the Padres on Friday night.
The Rockies had just three hits over the first eight innings of the game, but got to closer Heath Bell with two hits and two walks in the ninth. Torrealba came up with two outs and the bases loaded, smacking the ball into the left-center field gap, plating the go-ahead runs. The Rockies have now won eight in a row and are a major-league best 10-1 in September. At this rate, by the time Tim Lincecum returns to take on the Rockies next week, the Wild Card race may already be over.
 Yorvit Torrealba-C - Rockies Sep. 5 - 6:20 pm et

Yorvit Torrealba has been named the starting catcher for the Rockies.
Interim manager Jim Tracy confirmed the news. The Rockies feel that Torrealba playing better defense than Iannetta (usually the defensive guru of the two). In addition, Iannetta has a .625 OPS over the last 14 days while Torrealba has a .833 OPS over the same span. Iannetta still remains the long-term catcher in Colorado, but there's nothing wrong with riding the hot hand... as long as the Rockies don't hesitate to switch back when it's time.
