Daric Barton went 2-for-3 with a walk Sunday against the Angels.
Barton was a disappointment in Triple-A, but he gave the A's a nice .287/.386/.434 line in 143 at-bats after the All-Star break. That should be good enough to make him the heavy favorite to open next year at first base for Oakland. He'll need to keep hitting in order to stay ahead of Chris Carter and Brett Wallace.

Daric Barton was 2-for-4 with two RBI in a win over the Rangers on Tuesday night.
Barton missed Monday's game with a sore heel. So far in September, Barton is batting .305 with two homers and nine RBI in 59 at-bats. The Athletics are committed to giving the former first-round pick a fair shake at first base, even though minor-league masher Chris Carter lies in wait.

Daric Barton was held out of Monday's lineup with a sore heel.
Barton injured himself Sunday afternoon while trying to score from first base on a Scott Hairston double. He's hitting .291/.403/.491 with two homers and seven RBI in September, and is considered day-to-day.

Athletics activated 1B Daric Barton from the 15-day disabled list.
Barton should see ample playing time at first base the rest of the way after missing three weeks. Whatever possible value Tommy Everidge ever had now is gone.

Assistant GM David Forst said that Daric Barton (hamstring) "should be in a game tomorrow in Arizona."
Barton was eligible to come off the DL on Tuesday, but the A's wanted to see him in game action before activating him. There's no word yet on how much longer the A's will hold him out, but Barton is getting closer to a return.

Eligible to come off the disabled list Tuesday, Barton may need a few more days. Manager Bob Geren indicated he would remain in Arizona until he was ready to play in a game.
