Astros signed RHP Brett Myers to a one-year, $3.1 million contract with an $8 million mutual option for 2011.
He'll get a $2 million buyout if the Astros decline the option, so he's guaranteed at least $5.1 million. It's probably not the ideal landing spot for Myers to get his career back on track, but it's not like he's leaving Petco Park behind. Myers, 29, missed three months last season after undergoing right hip surgery to repair a torn labrum, but was 4-3 with a 4.84 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 50/23 K/BB ratio in 18 appearances (10 starts). He has a 4.40 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 7.5 K/9 during his eight-year career. He's set to join Roy Oswalt, Wandy Rodriguez atop Houston's rotation next season, while Bud Norris, Felipe Paulino and Brian Moehler will battle it out for the final two spots.
