Brett Myers promised to "stick it" to the Phillies this season during his press conference Tuesday in Houston.
"I wanted to go back to Philadelphia," Myers said while donning an Astros uniform for the first time. "But they didn't show an interest, they had other obligations, which is fine with me." He will serve as the Astros' No. 3 starter in 2010 and the Phillies travel to Houston for a three-game series on the first weekend of the season, so we'll immediately see if he can walk the walk.

Astros signed RHP Brett Myers to a one-year, $3.1 million contract with an $8 million mutual option for 2011.
He'll get a $2 million buyout if the Astros decline the option, so he's guaranteed at least $5.1 million. It's probably not the ideal landing spot for Myers to get his career back on track, but it's not like he's leaving Petco Park behind. Myers, 29, missed three months last season after undergoing right hip surgery to repair a torn labrum, but was 4-3 with a 4.84 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 50/23 K/BB ratio in 18 appearances (10 starts). He has a 4.40 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 7.5 K/9 during his eight-year career. He's set to join Roy Oswalt, Wandy Rodriguez atop Houston's rotation next season, while Bud Norris, Felipe Paulino and Brian Moehler will battle it out for the final two spots.

Brett Myers will be paid $5 million in his new one-year contract with the Astros, reports Brian McTaggart of MLB.com.
The contract includes an option for 2011. Myers, 29, tallied a 4.84 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and a 50/23 K/BB ratio in 18 appearances (10 starts) with the Phillies last season, but missed three months following hip surgery. Minute Maid Park isn't the ideal landing spot for Myers, given his penchant for the gopher ball, but at least he has averaged 7.5 K/9 for his career.

The Astros have reached a deal with right-hander Brett Myers, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com.
Myers, 29, has reportedly been offered a spot in Houston's starting rotation. The right-hander posted a 4.84 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP and a 50/23 K/BB ratio in 18 appearances (10 starts) last season for Philadelphia. He won't be much of a fantasy asset no matter the role he's given.

MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports that the Astros and free agent right-hander Brett Myers are engaged in "serious talks."
The Astros are reportedly offering Myers a spot in their 2010 starting rotation, which is something other clubs have not been willing to do. Hopefully that condition leads to a quick signing. The 29-year-old righty posted a 4.84 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP in 18 appearances (10 starts) last season for Philadelphia.

According to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick, the Astros are "talking to" free agent right-hander Brett Myers.
The 'Stros are willing to offer Myers a spot in their starting rotation but he must fit within their remaining budget. The 29-year-old had a 4.84 ERA and a 6.37 K/9 this past season for the Phillies while dealing with a hip injury. The Rangers also have interest in him but only as a reliever.
