According to ESPN.com, the Nationals and non-tendered left-hander Scott Olsen have agreed to terms on a one-year, $1 million contract.
Olsen, who earned $2.8 million last season, could earn as much as $4 million if he makes 33 starts next season. It's a suitable deal for a pitcher coming off season-ending shoulder surgery. He was 2-4 with a 6.03 ERA before undergoing the procedure in July.

Nationals non-tendered LHP Scott Olsen.
It's possible that the pitching-hungry Nationals could attempt bringing him back at a reduced rate. Olsen, who turns 26 in January, was 2-4 with a 6.03 ERA and 1.72 in 11 starts before undergoing season-ending surgery to repair his left labrum in July. He should be ready for the start of spring training.

Scott Olsen said Monday that his surgically repaired shoulder is 100 percent.
Olsen underwent season-ending surgery to repair a torn left labrum in July. "When I do my throwing program in offseason, I've been told to go about it as if I wasn't even hurt," said the left-hander. "I will not do anything different." It's not clear if the Nationals plan to offer him arbitration this winter. He went just 2-4 with an ugly 1.72 WHIP and 6.03 ERA before hitting the 60-day disabled list in '09 and turns 26 years of age in January.

Nationals transferred LHP Scott Olsen to the 60-day disabled list.
Olsen underwent surgery on his left labrum in July and is expected to be ready in time for the start of the 2010 season. The Nationals made the roster move in order to clear some space on the 40-man roster.

Scott Olsen underwent successful labrum surgery on Thursday.
Acting GM Mike Rizzo gave the scoop to reporters after the procedure: "Olsen's surgery went well. As little damage as could be expected was in there. Sometimes when you go in there you find stuff that was unexpected, this was all expected and as minimal as can be. Six to eight weeks until he starts a throwing program and you take it as tolerated from there." He's hoping to be ready for the start of spring training, but that might be a stretch.

Scot Olsen will have surgery on his right shoulder Thursday and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
"What it appears is that he's got a small tear of the labrum," Dr. Wiemi Douoguih said Monday night. "The rotator cuff looks to be in good condition. Nine times out of ten this is just a clean-up procedure, with the idea that they're back to being competition-ready in three months. And that's the goal here." Olsen will work toward being ready for spring training in 2010.
