Twins signed 2B Orlando Hudson to a one-year, $5 million contract.
And there we have it. Hudson, 32, is expected to take over starting second base duties in Minnesota. The "O-Dog" hit .283/.357/.417 with nine home runs, 35 doubles and eight stolen bases in 551 at-bats last season and should provide a nice spark at the top of the Twins' 2010 lineup. Nick Punto will slide over to third base and share time with Brendan Harris.

Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that the Twins are closing in on a one-year, $5 million contract with Orlando Hudson.
Hudson, 32, hit .283/.357/.417 with nine home runs and 62 RBI in 551 at-bats last season for the Dodgers and will take over starting second base duties for the Twins. The contract is worth a bit more than one might expect, but the "O-Dog" will provide a nice upgrade over last year's second baseman, Nick Punto. On the surface it feels like an excellent deal for both sides.

Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that free agent second baseman Orlando Hudson is deciding between the Twins and Indians.
On pure speculation, you'd have to take this to mean that the Indians have offered a greater guarantee, something that could have some appeal to Hudson after what he went through with the Dodgers last season. It would be shocking if the Twins would give him the $6 million he covets, so they'll have to hope that the better chance to win makes the difference.

A baseball source tells Bill Ladson of MLB.com that Orlando Hudson will not sign with the Nationals and is most likely headed to the Twins.
Ladson writes that a deal is almost done with Minnesota. The Nationals were hoping that Hudson would fall to them at a low-base salary, but all things being equal it makes more sense to play with a winning club in Minnesota, even with a similar guarantee. Hudson, 32, batted .283/.357/.417 with nine home runs and 62 RBI last season and figures to be a fine upgrade over Nick Punto at second base.

A major league source told FOXSports.com that the Twins have intensified their pursuit of free agent second baseman Orlando Hudson.
The Nationals have been connected to Hudson most often, but that doesn't mean they are the front-runners for his services. They are hoping that O-Dog comes down to their price, but the veteran second baseman still hopes to land $6 million on a one-year deal, according to a source. That isn't likely to happen with either club, but if they offer similar deals, the chance of being on a winning ballclub in Minnesota could be the difference. Stay tuned.

Indians general manager Mark Shapiro didn't confirm or deny interest in free agent second baseman Orlando Hudson when asked by Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com.
"At this time, we're looking to make the biggest impact possible on the team," said Shapiro. "I understand where our greatest weaknesses are, so I could prioritize. But I'm not dealing in a realm where I can just address our priorities. We have to look at how we can most impact the club positively." As Castrovince notes, Shapiro doesn't comment about specific players, but made reference to his "budget" during the conversation, at least suggesting the O-Dog could be out of their price range. With the younger and cheaper Luis Valbuena in-house, the Indians have greater areas of need.
