 Horacio Ramirez-R - Nationals Jun. 6 - 1:28 pm et

Royals designated LHP Horacio Ramirez for assignment.
They did so to make room for Luke Hochevar on the roster. Ramirez had a 5.96 ERA in 19 appearances (one start) for the Royals this season. The club hopes that he'll land with Triple-A Omaha.

The Royals have sent Horacio Ramirez to the bullpen and will start Brian Bannister in Wednesday's game.
Indirectly, the Kyle Farnsworth blows up may be helping the Royals here, since it's likely they would have stuck with Ramirez a while longer if they had won a couple of the games that Farnsworth lost. Ramirez, who had a brutal spring, gave up six runs in 4 1/3 innings in his lone start.

Horacio Ramirez will start Saturday against the Yankees.
Ramirez was originally scheduled to start Sunday, but will move up a day to accomodate ace Gil Meche's regular four-day rest schedule. The move was necessitated after Monday's opener against the White Sox was postponed until Tuesday. Meche will start on Tuesday and Sunday.

 Horacio Ramirez-R - Nationals Apr. 2 - 6:14 pm et

Horacio Ramirez fell to 1-3 after giving up six runs in six innings Thursday against the Rangers.
Fortunately, Ramirez's performance has no baring at all on his status in the Royals' rotation. If the Royals are willing to keep turning a blind eye all season, we'll have a legitimate chance of seeing a 20-game loser. Ramirez has allowed 32 runs -- 25 earned -- and 44 hits in 25 innings this spring. He has just two more strikeouts (nine) than homers allowed (seven).
 Sidney Ponson-S - Royals Apr. 1 - 4:22 pm et

The Royals have named Sidney Ponson and Horacio Ramirez their fourth and fifth starters.
It's this kind of decision making that causes us to chuckle every time someone calls the Royals a sleeper candidate to take the AL Central. Ponson hasn't had an ERA under 5.00 since 2003, and he still qualifies as a better bet than Ramirez, whose name was grabbed out of a hat back in December when the Royals decides they absolutely, positively must have a left-handed starter. Brian Bannister will join Luke Hochevar in Triple-A.
