Kevin Kouzmanoff suffered a strained left calf while making a throw during Tuesday night's game against the Giants.
There's no official word on how long he'll be sidelined, but manager Bud Black said "we hope he is back within a week, that's what we're hoping." Chase Headley got the start at third on Wednesday with Oscar Salazar in left, an arrangement that could be frequent while Kouzmanoff is out.

 Oscar Salazar-OF - Padres Sep. 2 - 12:42 am et

Oscar Salazar hit a pinch-hit home run in a win over the Nationals on Tuesday night.
Salazar returned to action after slamming his knee into the wall during Monday's game. He has an outstanding .378/.405/.608 line with four homers and 13 RBI in 74 at-bats this season, but trading for a 31-year-old pinch-hitter is still might puzzling.

Oscar Salazar suffered an apparent knee injury after slamming into the outfield wall Monday at Petco Park.
Salazar made a spectacular over-the-shoulder catch, but couldn't control his body after the grab. He was replaced by Drew Macias and will be reevaluated Tuesday morning. It was Salazar's first start in left field.

 Oscar Salazar-OF - Padres Jul. 19 - 7:31 pm et

Padres acquired infielder Oscar Salazar from the Orioles for RHP Cla Meredith.
Meredith's star had fallen a long way, but it's still stunning to see the rebuilding Padres part with him for a 31-year-old pinch-hitter. Maybe they think Salazar is a viable major league starter, but if he is, it's at first or third, two positions the Padres should have covered going forward. They could try living with him at second for now with David Eckstein and Edgar Gonzalez sidelined, but he doesn't have the range to turn into a fixture there. NL-only leaguers can consider picking him up for the short term.

Oscar Salazar went 2-for-3 with a homer and a walk Sunday versus the Blue Jays.
Salazar has gone 12-for-31 with a couple of homers in his five weeks with the Orioles. He also produced during a late-season stint last year, hitting .284/.372/.506 in 81 at-bats, so he's worth considering in AL-only leagues. His role would likely expand somewhat if Aubrey Huff or Ty Wigginton is dealt later this month.
 Cesar Izturis-SS - Orioles Jul. 10 - 9:19 am et

With Cesar Izturis expected to return from the disabled list on Friday, the Orioles will have to make a roster decision.
The team could either opt to trade or designate Felix Pie or Oscar Salazar for assignment, send David Hernandez to the minors, or place Aubrey Huff, who strained his groin on Wednesday, on the disabled list. Sending Hernandez down seems to make the most sense here. The Orioles won't need a fifth starter again until after the All-Star break.
