Mariners signed Erik Bedard to a one-year, $1.5 million contract with an $8 million mutual option for 2011.
He could make up to $8.5 million with incentives. The left-hander posted a 2.82 ERA in 15 starts for the Mariners in 2009, but missed most of the second half of the season with shoulder problems, eventually undergoing season-ending surgery in August. He likely won't be a significant factor until mid-season.

Erik Bedard's incentive-laden deal could pay over $7.5 million, Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman reports.
The $7.5 million figure is what the 30-year-old made in 2009, a season cut short by injury. The left-hander is expected to sign a one-year deal worth a minimum of $1.5 million with the Mariners after undergoing a physical. Even if Bedard hits all incentives, Seattle will get plenty of value to make the signing worth the money.

According to John Hickey of AOL Fanhouse, Erik Bedard is on his way to Seattle for a physical.
It might not be the formality that comes along with most signings, however it is the only thing standing in the way of him returning to Seattle. Bedard has reportedly agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million contract with some additional incentives. He's expected to miss the first two months of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery last August.

Erik Bedard told French-language newspaper Le Droit on Thursday that his one-year deal with the Mariners is worth $1.5 million.
The contract also includes some incentives, though it's not exactly clear yet how much those will be worth. "I'm really happy. It was my first choice to return to Seattle," Bedard told the Ontario-based paper. "I think the team will be very good this season." The 30-year-old lefty was 5-3 with an impressive 2.82 ERA in 15 starts for the Mariners in '09, but he missed nearly the entire second half of the season with shoulder problems.

A source tells Jon Paul Morosi that free agent left-hander Erik Bedard is close to a one-year contract with the Mariners.
If anything, it jives with Jim Street's report from earlier today, though nothing appears to final quite yet, as he would have to take part in a physical examination. Bedard underwent shoulder surgery last August and isn't expected to contribute in the majors until May at the earliest.

Erik Bedard told Larry LaRue of the Tacoma News Tribune that he would love to return to Seattle.
"I'd love it - put me down as No. 3B, because Ryan (Rowland-Smith) could be No. 3, he's ready," said Bedard. "I'd love to be back in Seattle." Bedard said he hasn't received a concrete offer, but there were rumblings early Thursday that he has agreed to a one-year, incentive-laden contract with the Mariners. Bedard, who underwent shoulder surgery last August, isn't firm on a return date to the mound, but could see himself pitching in May.
