Francisco Rodriguez failed to convert a save opportunity against the Braves on Wednesday night.
The season is all but over for the Mets, but they keep inventing new ways to lose. Rodriguez allowed a leadoff double to Garret Anderson, then hit Brian McCann. After Yunel Escobar sacrificed pinch-runner Reid Gorecki over to third and pinch-runner David Ross to second, K-Rod intentionally walked Adam LaRoche to get to Omar Infante. Infante hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game. It looked like Rodriguez would actually make it out of the inning with the score tied, but the misadventures of Daniel Murphy continued, as he made a brutal error on an in-between hop that allowed the winning run to score. Rodriguez has a 5.66 ERA and three blown saves since the All-Star break.
