La Velle E. Neal III reports that Justin Morneau is recovering well from surgery on his right hand.
"Hand is feeling better," Morneau wrote via e-mail. "Get the cast off this week and it should be good as new in about 4 weeks. They found a floating chunk of bone that kind of looked like a tooth but no tendon or ligament damage. Went as good as it could go." Morneau's hand should be healed by the end of the year. Meanwhile, the team expects the stress fracture in his lower back to heal with rest.

 Justin Morneau-1B - Twins Oct. 22 - 1:15 pm et

Justin Morneau had a bone chip removed from his wrist Tuesday.
Apparently the Twins had a 2-for-1 deal on bone chip removal, because Joe Nathan also had a pair of chips removed from his right elbow. Nathan's chips are obviously a much bigger issue, especially given that Morneau will spend the offseason focused on his recovery from a stress fracture in his lower back.

La Velle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Justin Morneau will have surgery to remove a piece of bone from his right hand.
"It's just a general clean-up to remove a small chunk of bone that formed and clean up the tendons," Morneau said in an email. The recovery time is expected to be four to six weeks. As for the stress fracture in his lower back, Morneau was told to rest for three months. He is expected to be ready in time for spring training.

 Justin Morneau-1B - Twins Sep. 15 - 12:37 am et

The Twins said after Monday's game that Justin Morneau will miss the rest of the season with a stress fracture in his lower back.
Well, that certainly explains why his season turned so sour in a hurry. Carlos Gomez, Delmon Young, Brian Buscher and Justin Huber all figure to divide up Morneau's at-bats, with Michael Cuddyer frequently starting at first base. It probably doesn't make Gomez or Young worth using in mixed leagues, but Buscher now has some value in AL-only leagues. Joe Mauer can look forward to being walked a whole bunch in the coming weeks.

Justin Morneau is out of the lineup Monday as he continues to deal with back stiffness.
Michael Cuddyer is starting at first base. Jason Kubel is also resting against Cleveland lefty Jeremy Sowers, giving Justin Huber his first start for the Twins at designated hitter.

Justin Morneau is getting Sunday off as he deals with back stiffness and wrist soreness.
Morneau could play, but he's slumping terribly anyway. It will probably be just a one-game break. Michael Cuddyer is starting at first base.
