Pirates signed RHP D.J. Carrasco to a minor league contract.
The 32 year old will enter spring training as a favorite to snag a bullpen spot, although he may try to compete for the rotation. Carrasco posted a 3.76 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 93 1/3 innings for the White Sox last season.

According to Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pirates have signed right-hander D.J. Carrasco to a minor league contract.
If Carrasco makes the team out of Spring Training, he will make a $950,000 base salary with a chance for an additional $250,000 in performance bonuses based on appearances. Carrasco, 32, posted a 3.76 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 93 1/3 innings last season before being non-tendered by the White Sox in December.

Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse reports that the Pirates are the front-runners to sign free agent RHP D.J. Carrasco.
Three other teams are also involved, though they were not mentioned by name. Carrasco, 32, posted a 3.76 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 93 1/3 innings this season and could see an improvement by leaving U.S. Cellular Field. He was non-tendered by the White Sox in December. Should he sign with Pittsburgh, he could compete for a spot in the starting rotation.

White Sox non-tendered RHP D.J. Carrasco.
As much as Ozzie Guillen seemed to like Carrasco, it was rather surprising to see the White Sox come to the decision, even though it was clear in recent days that they were leaning this way. Carrasco finished with a 3.76 ERA in 93 1/3 innings. He's not a good bet to do it again, but he shouldn't have much trouble landing a major league deal. He intends to sign with a team that will give him a chance to contend for a rotation spot.

D.J. Carrasco is in danger of being non-tendered on Saturday.
Carrasco had a very solid 2009 season, posting a 3.76 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 62/29 K/BB ratio in 93 1/3 innings. But the White Sox are at their payroll limit and can't afford to pay the arbitration-eligible reliever too much of a raise. White Sox closer Bobby Jenks, starting pitcher John Danks, reliever Tony Pena and outfielder Carlos Quentin are also eligible for arbitration.

D.J. Carrasco may miss the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury.
He's been an important innings eater in the Chicago bullpen, but this injury shouldn't cause much of a ripple in fantasy leagues. If he's done for the season, the 32-year-old finishes 2009 with a 3.76 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 62/29 K/BB ratio in 93 1/3 innings.
