The Cubs are still in touch with free agent relievers Kiko Calero and Chan Ho Park, reports Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com.
Hard to argue with either of them. Calero, 35, compiled a 1.95 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 69/30 K/BB ratio in 60 innings with the Marlins last season while the 36-year-old Park found success out of Philadelphia's pen, posting a 2.52 ERA in 50 innings. The Cubs could use another solid bullpen arm, but will probably take whoever is willing to accept a one-year deal.

 Kiko Calero-R - Marlins Jan. 20 - 9:08 pm et

The Cubs are negotiating with RHP Kiko Calero, reports FOXSports.com's Jon Paul Morosi.
Calero posted a 1.97 ERA over 60 innings for the Marlins in 2009. A 10.4 K/9 is very attractive, but concerns with his torn rotator cuff in 2008 are scaring teams away from the two-year deal the 35 year old is asking for. Chicago is in need of a late-inning reliever, so Calero makes sense.

Adding free agent reliever Kiko Calero appears to be a "top priority" for the Giants, according to Mychael Urban of CSNBayArea.com.
Calero, 34, posted an impressive 1.95 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 69/30 K/BB ratio in 60 innings last season for the Marlins but some clubs have expressed concern about his throwing shoulder. He was limited to five appearances in 2008 due to a torn rotator cuff and he sat out with soreness in '09.

The Cubs have "checked on" free agent reliever Kiko Calero, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com.
They're concerned about his shoulder, however, and wouldn't be willing to offer much of a contract. Calero, 34, posted an impressive 1.95 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 69/30 K/BB ratio in 60 innings this season for the Marlins but he made only five appearances in 2008 due to a torn rotator cuff and he experienced soreness in the same region last season. The Giants also expressed interest in the right-hander as recently as one week ago.

According to Mychael Urban of CSNBayArea.com, the Giants are interested in acquiring free agent reliever Kiko Calero.
Calero, 34, posted an impressive 1.95 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 69/30 K/BB ratio in 60 innings this season for the Marlins. It's surprising he's not drawing more interest, considering guys like LaTroy Hawkins, Fernando Rodney and Brandon Lyon have signed lucrative multi-year contracts this winter.

The Marlins did not offer arbitration to their four free agents.
This includes Type B's first baseman Nick Johnson and right-hander Kiko Calero. Both had reasonable cases for arbitration, and they should be desirable on the free agent market, but the Marlins chose not to take the risk. First baseman Ross Gload and right-hander Brendan Donnelly did not qualify for a free agent ranking.
